Description: Volvo F10 6x4 and 8x4 mod.
I don't know who all the original authors are, so please, if you are an
author or you know who is, tell me so I can properly credit them!
Downloaded this and I liked it, all I've done is a few little tweaks and fine
tuning here and there:
1) fixed the engine sounds - they were almost perfect but exhaust load sound
didn't come in until 660 rpm, now adjusted.
2) fixed the tachometer (rev counter) to read more credibly.
3) Personally I think the 1000 hp engine option (10,000Nm) is silly: it's so
far from real it's pointless. The top engine now is 540hp, 3550Nm (which is
already much more than the F10 ever had in real life - they were mostly under
300bhp) but it's credible if someone dropped a high tuned F12 engine or an
F16 engine into an F10. There are no truck gearboxes out there which can
take 10,000Nm - in fact, around 3600Nm is more than most will do but I find
the game is still a little under-powered compared with the nominal figure.
With the 540 bhp engine I hauled a 59t tank load with no problem at all,
sitting at 90Km/h on the limiter most of the time - you don't need 1000 bhp.
and... (this last bit is my original contribution!)
4) found some old (1985) data for F10 gearboxes on the net! The 8 speed and
16 speed boxes use genuine axle and gearbox data. 16 speed HD is low axle
ratio (optional on the F10 in 1985), use this with lower power engines for
heavy loads. I left the 12-speed standard box there for those who want it.
5) Added metallic paint option to the colours
Also included is a set of gearbox config files so you can get the full
experience of an 8-speed range change or 16 speed range-split, if you have a
suitable rig with H pattern shifter. See separate readme for how to use
them.
Feel free to redistribute the gearbox files with their own readme file.
